During non-surgical lip augmentation we primarily use a cannula to augment the lips as we aim to cause as little trauma to your lip tissue as possible and avoid the risk of vascular occlusion (blocking blood from a vessel in your lip). However, all cosmetic procedures come with risks and side effects.
Common side effects following lip augmentation treatment include tenderness and swelling at the injection site, redness and bruising. However, these effects are only temporary and usually last for a maximum of three days following treatment
Rarely, there may be more serious side effects including severe swelling, migration of the filler, infection, granuloma, hypersensitivity, cysts and allergic reactions.
If you are considering lip augmentation and have any questions please contact us. We will run through all the risks involved prior to commencing treatment so you are fully informed before you decide whether you wish to proceed.
Avoid touching the lips or applying any makeup/lipbalms for at least 8 hours
Avoid physical exercise for the rest of the day
Avoid saunas/steam rooms and sunbeds for 2 weeks shou until the following day.
Swelling can be uneven for up to two weeks
