- Skin Boosters, Skin Care
As PRP is a substance derived from one’s own blood it is not considered a drug. For this reason, the therapy does not require FDA approval, although it is required approval for all of the equipment used and procedures used. Here at SF Aesthetics, Wigan, we are full trained through an approved trainer and competent to undertake the treatment, we are also fully insured and trained to a high competency.
PRP can be used to help with:
- Hair loss
- Scars
- Acne/acne scarring
- Stretch marks
- Pigmentation
- Dark circles
- Saggy or loose skin
- Tired and aged skin
- Sun damage
- Skin rejuvenation
What is PRP Therapy?
PRP therapy is known as plasma or stem cell therapy, made famous by the ‘Vampire or Dracula’ facelift. The treatment utilises your body’s own ability to regenerate, heal and rejuvenate the treated area. The idea is that injecting PRP into damaged tissues will stimulate your body to grow new, healthy cells and promote healing and regeneration. The procedure is simple, and is very beneficial, achieving amazing natural results.
What is the PRP injection process?
I will draw a sample of blood from your arm (do not panic, I am a nurse). The blood is then placed into a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the plasma. The plasma is the injected into the desired area using very fine needles.

Is the procedure painful?
There may be mild discomfort from the injections and a tingling sensation. This is a normal part of the healing process. A mild erythema (redness) may be visible for a few hours in the treatment area.

How many treatments are needed??
My most popular PRP treatment is for hair loss:
It would be untruthful of me to say this treatment can cure baldness and hair loss as every patient’s hair loss condition is unique.
Some patients can see great results after as little as 3 treatments (adjacent image), and some patients it can take a little longer. This lady was a little self-conscious about her thinning her so we discussed a few options and decided the best option would be to have PRP therapy to help her. Obviously, she is really happy with the results and was more than happy for me to share her progress so far.
PRP is the recommended treatment following a hair transplant. With the Hair transplant procedure increasing in numbers every year, it is not hard to see why this is fast becoming SF Aesthetics most popular treatment with the male clientele. SF Aesthetics, Wigan, also offer a wide range of products to help male and female clients from thinning hair, including shampoos, masks and serums.
