Chemical Peel in Wigan

Reveal Smoother, Clearer Skin

A chemical peel is a safe and effective skin rejuvenation treatment that improves the appearance of the skin on the face, neck or hands. At SF Aesthetics in Wigan, we provide professional chemical peels. These peels are designed for your skin type and concerns. They help you get smoother skin, less pigmentation, and a radiant glow.

What Is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a procedure done outside a hospital. A chemical solution is put on the skin. This makes the skin exfoliate and eventually peel off.

As the skin sheds its outer layers, fresh new skin cells are revealed beneath. This non-surgical treatment is ideal for improving the tone and texture of the skin.

Depending on the depth of the peel and your skin goals, we offer:

  • Light chemical peel: Targets the outermost layer of skin, ideal for fine lines, acne, and mild discolouration.
  • Medium depth peels: Reaches the middle layers of the skin, helping to treat wrinkles, age spots, and sun damage.
  • Deep chemical peel: This treatment uses strong solutions like carbolic acid (phenol) or trichloroacetic acid. Experts recommend it for deeper scars and more visible signs of aging. Note: This requires more downtime.

Which Chemical Peel Is Right for You?

During your visit to SF Aesthetics Wigan, we will check your skin type and concerns. We will also discuss your goals to suggest the best treatment for you. We offer peels with a variety of alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), such as:

  • Glycolic acid
  • Lactic acid
  • Salicylic acid

What To Expect During the Procedure

A chemical peel at our Wigan clinic typically takes 30–45 minutes, depending on the type and area treated. Here’s what you can expect:

  1. Skin is thoroughly cleansed.
  2. The technician applies the chosen chemical solution to exfoliate the outer layer of skin.
  3. You may feel mild tingling or warmth during the application.
  4. After the peel, someone applies a soothing product.

Hyperpigmentation Treatment with Chemical Peels

This patient felt disheartened by how her skin changed after sun exposure. Patches of pigmentation, dullness, and uneven skin tone started to appear—and no skincare seemed to help.

“I felt like my skin had lost its glow. The pigmentation made me feel older than I was. I just wanted a fresh, even complexion that gave me my confidence back.”

SF Aesthetics made me feel so welcome from the moment I walked in. Their team explained everything clearly, and I knew I was in safe hands. The results? My skin looks brighter, smoother, and more even. I feel confident going makeup-free for the first time in years!”

Chemical Peels Aftercare and Recovery

Your skin may feel tight and appear red post-treatment. With light chemical peels, any flaking or redness typically resolves within a few days. Medium or deep peels may involve a recovery period of up to 14 days.

Important aftercare tips:

  • Avoid sun exposure and wear SPF daily – your skin will be temporarily more sensitive to the sun.
  • Keep the skin hydrated and avoid picking or peeling.
  • Avoid makeup for 24–48 hours (or as advised).

Are Chemical Peels Safe

Yes – when performed by qualified professionals like our team at SF Aesthetics. However, they are not recommended if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Are on certain medications like birth control pills or acne treatments
  • Have active cold sores or infections

We’ll discuss any contraindications during your consultation.
